Sizing & Fit

How do I choose the right bracelet size?

Finding your perfect fit is easy:

Step 1: Measure Your Wrist
Use a flexible tape or strip of paper. Wrap it around your wrist just below the wrist bone, mark where it overlaps, then measure the length. Add 0.5-1cm for comfort.

Step 2: Match Your Size

Your Wrist Size Recommended Bead Size Style
14-17cm (5.5-6.7") 6mm or 8mm Women's
16.5-18cm (6.5-7.1") 15mm Unisex (Most Popular)
18-21cm (7.1-8.3") 18mm or 20mm Men's

Step 3: Check the Fit
Your bracelet should feel comfortable — not too tight to restrict movement, not too loose to slide off easily.

Still unsure? View our complete size guide for detailed measurements and 108-bead mala wrap guides.

Are the bracelets adjustable?

Most of our bracelets feature high-quality elastic cord for a comfortable slip-on fit, while our 108-bead malas may use non-elastic threading for traditional wrap styling. They are not manually adjustable. If you need a custom size, feel free to reach out and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Are the beads natural?

Yes. All of our bracelets are crafted from 100% natural wood and seeds. Because of this, each piece may have slight variations in color, grain, and texture — that's what makes your bracelet truly one of a kind.

What types of wood do you use?

We work with carefully sourced natural woods and sacred seeds — from fragrant agarwood and golden sandalwood to bodhi seeds and rudraksha. Each piece carries its own unique character and significance.

Are there any artificial materials or dyes?

No. We never use artificial dyes, synthetic resins, or treated woods. What you see is the natural beauty of the material itself.

Care & Maintenance

How do I care for my bracelet?

Keep your bracelet looking its best with these simple tips:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water — remove before showering, swimming, or washing hands
  • Avoid extreme temperatures — don't leave it in direct sunlight or near heat sources
  • Avoid harsh chemicals — remove before applying perfume, lotion, or cleaning products
  • Store in a cool, dry place — use the pouch or box it came in

My bracelet looks dry — what should I do?

Wood is a natural material and may occasionally appear dry, especially in low-humidity environments. Lightly applying a thin coat of neutral oil (such as mineral oil or white tea oil) with a soft cloth will restore its natural luster.

Can I wear it every day?

Absolutely. Our bracelets are designed for daily wear. Just follow the care tips above to keep it in great condition over time.

We want you to love your bracelet. If you're not completely satisfied, you may return eligible items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund or exchange. Is this a religious product?

Our bracelets are inspired by meditation and mindfulness traditions, but they are not tied to any specific religion. They are designed for anyone seeking a moment of peace, focus, or personal meaning in their daily life.

Product Questions

Our Golden Sandalwood Gourd (also called "Imperial Gourd") features a carved gourd-shaped centerpiece bead flanked by golden sandalwood rounds. The gourd (hulu) symbolizes good fortune and protection in Eastern tradition.

Compared to our regular round-bead bracelets, it has a more sculptural, statement-making silhouette while carrying the same warm honey-toned fragrance. It's our most popular style for first-time buyers — visually distinctive, spiritually meaningful, and easy to wear.

We recommend starting with the Golden Sandalwood Gourd 15mm. Here's why:

  • The 15mm bead size fits most wrists comfortably — it's our unisex best-seller
  • The golden sandalwood has a gentle natural scent that isn't overpowering
  • The gourd design gives you something unique to notice and appreciate each time you glance at your wrist

It's the piece that converts the most "just browsing" visitors into customers.

A 108-bead mala is traditionally used in meditation practice — you recite a mantra once per bead, completing one full cycle of 108 repetitions.

How to wear it: wrapped around the wrist (typically 3–4 loops) or as a long necklace.

Our 108-bead malas come in two sizes:

  • 6mm — delicate, layered look
  • 8mm — more presence and substance

Both use non-elastic traditional threading that holds its wrap shape naturally.

Yes — it's actually one of our most popular gift choices. Vietnamese agarwood carries a subtle, refined scent that develops over time, making it a piece that "grows with" its wearer.

We recommend pairing it with our optional Blessing Card for an extra thoughtful touch — a temple-blessed message card personalized with your words.

The Bliss Card is a small laser-engraved wooden tag included at no extra cost with every Lumala purchase. It bears our brand name "Lūmala" in elegant lettering on light natural wood.

Think of it as our signature touch — a quiet reminder that arrives alongside your bracelet. It doesn't do anything functional. It just stays with you.

Materials Deep Dive

Yes. Our golden sandalwood (also known as "golden fragrant wood") is authentic natural wood with a characteristic warm honey tone and mild, sweet woody fragrance. It's sourced from sustainable plantations — not wild-harvested.

Note: it is distinct from Indian Santalum album (Mysore sandalwood), which is extremely rare and regulated globally. What we offer is the high-quality cultivated variety prized in East Asian craftsmanship for centuries.

Agarwood (also called aloeswood or oud) forms when Aquilaria trees defend against fungal infection by producing resin-saturated heartwood. This process is rare in nature and cannot be rushed — it takes years, sometimes decades.

The result is a dense, resin-rich wood with an incredibly complex scent profile: earthy, sweet, slightly balsamic, and utterly unique. Each piece of genuine agarwood has its own fragrance signature. That rarity and depth is what justifies the premium.

They come from different tree species and have distinct personalities:

Red Rosewood (红檀) Purple Rosewood (紫檀/犀牛角紫檀)
Color Warm reddish-brown Deep purple-dark brown
Grain Fine, even Dramatic, with dark streaks
Feeling Grounding, warming Bold, protective
Best for Everyday calm Statement wear

Both are genuine rosewood varieties — no dyes, no stains. The color difference is entirely natural.

Technically speaking, bodhi "seeds" are the dried seed pits of the Pho tree (Ficus religiosa), the same species under which the Buddha attained enlightenment.

They're incredibly hard, lightweight, and develop a beautiful patina (glossy surface layer) over months of wearing and contact with skin oils. Each seed has a tiny dot-like "eye" pattern on its surface — that's the botanical germinal pore, and it's part of what makes every bodhi seed bracelet unique.

A few simple checks:

  • Scent: Real sandalwood and agarwood have a subtle, natural woody fragrance that fades slowly. If it smells strongly chemical or like plastic, it's not genuine.
  • Weight: Natural wood and seeds feel substantial but not unnaturally heavy. Resin-coated fakes often feel too light or too uniform.
  • Grain: Look closely — natural materials show grain variations, tiny imperfections, and color shifts between beads. Perfectly identical beads are a red flag.
  • Feel: Wood should feel slightly warm to the touch after holding it. Plastic and synthetic materials stay room-temperature cold.
  • Patina over time: Genuine wood deepens in color and develops gloss with regular wear. Fakes tend to fade or peel.

At Lumala, we guarantee all materials are 100% natural. No exceptions.

Blessing Card & Gifting

The Blessing Card is an optional add-on available at checkout. It's a digital blessing card featuring a temple-inspired design with space for your personal message. It's printed and included in your package — a meaningful way to send intentions along with your gift.

Unlike generic greeting cards, this one carries a quiet spiritual warmth that matches the mindful nature of our jewelry.

Yes. When you select the Blessing Card add-on at checkout, you'll see a text field where you can type your personal message. Keep it brief and heartfelt — the card design works best with about 2–3 sentences.

If you're ordering as a gift, include the recipient's name and your sentiment.

Every Lumala order includes:

  • Your bracelet, wrapped in protective tissue
  • A birch bark gift box — natural, rustic, reusable
  • A lotus-cloth pouch — for daily storage and travel
  • A suede cleaning cloth — for gentle maintenance
  • A Bliss Card — our engraved wooden tag (free with every order)
  • Your Blessing Card (if added) — with your personal message

Yes. At checkout, you'll find an option to mark your order as a gift. This ensures no pricing information is included in the package, and you can add a gift message that will appear on the packing slip.

Our birch bark box is the gift wrapping — thoughtfully designed to feel like unwrapping something special from nature itself. No additional wrapping service is needed, but the presentation is intentionally gift-ready.
